A new approach to learning — learning with pleasure

The cycle of language programs "The English-Speaking World from Cultural Capitals to Exotic Countries" is a language adventure-journey using educational tourism mechanisms around the English-speaking world, combining intensive language training, language practice, and the study of the traditions, history, and culture of the country of the target language, using the "control" immersion method in the language environment. The language programs are approved by the municipal state institution of additional education "LingvoCenter" (license for educational activities in teaching foreign languages No. 40L01No0001793).

PURPOSE: The cycle of language programs is aimed at developing foreign language skills, removing the language barrier, and solving the linguistic and phonetic difficulties that Russian speakers experience when using English in the English-speaking world.

ROUTE: English-speaking countries and regions around the world where English is the official language.

Main Objectives: comprehensive language training and exposure to the full picture of the English-speaking world

Applied tasks: In the language training programs, participants also receive interdisciplinary knowledge: familiarization with the English-speaking culture and traditions of English-speaking countries and regions, important facts of history, literature, geography and social studies, scientific achievements of the English-speaking world. Studying and understanding the directions of the future: forming interest in professions and career guidance, developing the interests of the child, understanding and analyzing trends. They try themselves in various roles and professions: tour guide, translator, video operator, radio presenter, doctor, model, journalist.

The result: the competent formation of a foreign language, the development of language and communication skills, the disclosure of talents, creative abilities and personal qualities. Developing an interest in languages, history, literature, culture, and related disciplines. Improving general literacy, broadening horizons and academic achievement.

HOW THE PROGRAMS ARE IMPLEMENTED

Immerse yourself in the world of English by studying the history, culture, traditions and ethnicity of English-speaking countries. The study of the behavioral language culture, mentality, lifestyle and life realities of the country. The mysteries of English civilization and the wonders of nature, from the oldest settlements of the Celts and Normans to modern Overseas Territories Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries. An introduction to the formation of the origins of culture and folklore of the peoples of the English-speaking world, such as Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and its influence on modern English.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES THIS METHOD OF TEACHING ENGLISH SOLVE

Language Theme Programs and selected routes are an additional educational aspect of the general language curriculum. They facilitate the study and reinforcement of material learned in English classes, including visits to landmarks of paramount historical and cultural significance in the target language country, as well as exploration of the ethnicity and traditions of its people and their influence on the English language.

For successful and proficient foreign language acquisition, mastering foreign speech skills, and crucially, for their correct application in an international environment, an integrated approach to language learning and practice is essential. This approach must combine language instruction with the study of cultural studies—the socio-economic conditions, customs, traditions, and cultural values of the target language country and its people—and neoculturology—the prerequisites and factors that shape the cultural interests and needs of the people whose language is being studied. It is necessary to teach not only linguistic structures but also what "lies beyond the language," i.e., the culture of the target language country.

An analysis of current English teaching practices in Russia, as well as an analysis of existing outbound programs and language courses abroad for Russian-speaking groups, has shown that crucial aspects of language learning are being ignored. These include cultural studies and neoculturology, English-speaking behavioral culture, and intercultural communication at the intersection of the target and native cultures. Without introducing the extra-linguistic material of the target language country, and without analyzing the mentality and behavioral linguistic culture of both the native and target languages, the language itself cannot be learned adequately. This means it cannot be learned in the way it is truly used and understood by a genuine native speaker.

Learning a foreign language will be much more successful if the language is studied in an inseparable unity with the English-speaking world and the culture of its peoples. Language primarily reflects the social experience of a people; the existence of certain lexical units is determined by the practical needs of people and their life realities. An integrated approach to learning and practicing English in a living language environment will help make a breakthrough in language study and proficiency, achieving maximum results in a short period.

This is precisely why our educational outbound language tours place such great importance on studying the history and culture of the target language country, the traditions and ethnicity of its people, their way of life and realities, mentality and behavioral culture, and the theory and practice of intercultural communication at the intersection of two cultures. To ensure language acquisition is as effective as possible in a short period, and that learning sparks interest and a thirst for knowledge, all our language programs have thematic narratives and include scientific, educational, adventure, creative, sports, and educational elements.

THE METHOD, "Journey into English," is the fastest, most effective, and most interesting way to learn English by traveling through the English-speaking world, to those countries and regions where English is the official language. We have chosen the most significant countries of the English-speaking world, those that have contributed to the development of the English language and "English civilization" as a whole. These are countries that have preserved their unique culture and ethnicity, possess unique natural landscapes and wonders of the world, are renowned for their national character and achievements, and are known for scientific discoveries that have changed the world.

WHY THIS PROJECT CAME TO BE

How was this project born? The idea arose from a common myth about English and its incomprehensible accents... In Russia, it is commonly believed that the English language is represented by England. But in reality, English is the official language of 68 countries, each of which has influenced the formation of the English language and continues to influence its use in the global modern world. Currently, there are about two thousand officially recognized accents in the English language. Moreover, there are behavioral norms and rules for communicating in English in a native English-speaking environment that are important for every English learner to know.

Therefore, without studying the full picture of the English-speaking world—its history, mentality, culture and norms, accents, and pronunciation variations—it is impossible to adequately master English skills fully and sufficiently for application in today's global world. A person might know the language or study it all their life, but upon arriving in an English-speaking country, they may still not understand the pronunciation variants of words they already know. During communication, they might make cultural, behavioral, or even phonetic mistakes. Even intonation rhythm can completely distort the communicative message, spoil the impression, and even lead to misunderstanding and conflict.

To solve this problem, language programs in the format of educational outbound tours were created. They are developed by specialists in linguistics and English teaching to study the peculiarities of English speech with its phonetic diversity across the English-speaking world, as well as the culture and traditions of English-speaking countries, the specificities of mentality and behavioral norms at the intersection of two cultures, English-Russian— "Russian Culture Through the Eyes of the English and the English Mentality for Russians."

All the presented educational language tours complement and reinforce each other and are united into a single comprehensive educational linguistic project, "English from Cultural Capitals to Exotic Countries." This is a narrative journey into the World of the English Language, offering a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural diversity of the homeland of English—the United Kingdom—to see the "non-tourist" Great Britain and other English-speaking countries and regions around the world.

This cycle of programs introduces living English in practice, in its native environment, with its phonetic variability and the diversity of cultures in the English-speaking world. In Great Britain alone, there are many vastly different types of pronunciations and accents. Studying and practicing the language in various regions of the UK and in different English-speaking countries provides a complete picture of how English functions, its phonetic system, and teaches one to perceive and distinguish dialects, hear accents, navigate language norms adeptly, and apply English skills in ANY English-speaking country, in any region of the UK, regardless of the diversity of pronunciations.

THE METHOD, "Journey into English," is not only a cultural and educational project but also a developmental and educational project aimed at improving students' literacy and culture, and forming the modern skills necessary for successful future life. This includes developing business and "survival" skills: a school of life, developing and demonstrating character, the ability to set goals and achieve results, presenting and speaking in front of an audience, speech and oratory skills, and self-presentation by presenting the results of one's own work.

Fostering student patriotism: In the process of developing language skills and learning a foreign language in its native environment, the sense of patriotism and pride for one's own country/people/nationality noticeably increases in the context of comparing and studying other cultures. It also boosts motivation and interest in studying one's own culture, history, traditions, and folklore. It involves studying intercultural and culturological differences, building competent intercultural communications, and understanding the culturological, pragmatic, and historical aspects of the target language, as well as the usage of the native and target languages.

Developing communication skills: Building diplomatic relations, fostering international friendships, showing respect for other peoples, and collaborating on joint projects.

Fostering a sense of happiness, satisfaction, and well-being: Daily sports and competitions, caring and educated mentors and teachers, real implemented personal projects, thematic and narrative developmental activities, and unforgettable adventures. Daily joys—walks and communication with friends, tasty and healthy food, interesting events, and comfortable rest—all of this is a sea of positivity!

EDUCATIONAL TOURISM AS A LEARNING TECHNOLOGY

A very interesting and unconventional format of language learning through travel to English-speaking countries, which brings a wealth of inspiration and new ideas. If a person is learning a language and is interested in the English-speaking world, then through getting to know the culture, city life, communicating with local peers, local events, and sports competitions, they gain a better understanding. This is much more beneficial than sitting even in the finest classroom with the best teacher.

Educational tourism is an innovative technology in language learning and speech skill development. Educational tourism is understood as a purposeful process of upbringing and learning outside the information and educational environment of an educational institution. It is considered the fastest way to develop language skills and oneself. Educational tourism helps increase interest in learning the language, the history of both the target language country and one's own country, and the development of worldview and general literacy. We have developed positive practices in the field of educational linguistic and ethnographic tourism based on Russian and Western educational institutions and museum-educational interactive programs.

SMART TOURISM – A TREND IN THE MODERN WORLD

Most schoolchildren and their parents lean towards "useful leisure," which combines learning with an entertainment and excursion program. Educational linguistic tourism is indeed the easiest and fastest form of language learning, development, and acquiring new skills and knowledge.

Our short-term language programs consist of several educational elements: a language learning program, an academic learning process, thematic activities, master classes on skills of interest, an excursion and educational program, entertainment activities, and smart leisure. The program successfully combines academic and innovative interactive teaching approaches. Thus, we use all modern methodologies while preserving traditions!

Our language programs have their own METHOD—a fast, interesting, and effective way to learn a language—and allow you to:

UNIQUENESS

The uniqueness of this educational linguistic project lies in the fact that it was created by linguists, honored teachers, philologists with PhDs and scholarly works on teaching methodology, leading practicing translators, and experts in intercultural communication. For these language programs, the "continuous learning method with controlled immersion in the language environment" has been developed and is successfully applied. The programs are conducted with the support of the LingvoCenter. The project "Method, Journey into English" is recognized as a cultural and educational project uniting language and excursion programs into a single comprehensive educational project; the project has no analogues. The language programs cover themes such as literature, art, ecology, geography, philology, history, and folklore. The excursion routes are additional elective elements to the general education program for students. The cycle of educational programs is maximally adapted to the educational process and learning objectives. Outbound educational language tours are conducted in accordance with approved requirements and standards for outbound language programs under the supervision of a teacher with a higher linguistic education who facilitates the process of language immersion. The bright, incredible adventures of a friendly team of participants create unforgettable holidays spent usefully. "Method, Journey into English" allows achieving SUCCESS and tangible results even in the shortest programs.

HOW WE ACHIEVE RESULTS

We combine scientific linguistic developments and methodological workshops on teaching foreign languages from leading linguistic universities in the country with the study of intercultural communication and culturological differences between the native and target languages, as well as the history, culture, and ethnicity of the target language country. This is achieved through educational, thematic, and adventure language trips across the English-speaking world, via complete immersion in the living native environment and culture of the language. With this method of controlled and continuous immersion, the core skills of the target language and the picture of the English-speaking world are competently and consciously formed. Talents and potential are unlocked, which then determines further motivation and future horizons—turning dreams into reality.

Combining the latest methods of teaching foreign languages with modern practices in the native language environment, in a favorable and inviting atmosphere, provides a significant breakthrough in foreign language learning, removes the language barrier, recharges with new energy, and increases motivation, desire, and the drive to study diligently, as the tasks become clear and the horizons tangible. For example, the University of Edinburgh, Dolly the sheep clone, and the genetics laboratory determined the desire of our tour participants to study fundamental medicine.

One can study in an artificial environment for any length of time, but now this is becoming ineffective. A huge flow of information arrives in an accelerating environment, and new knowledge and skills are better absorbed through practice, live communication, full involvement, and interactive interaction, where you can immediately apply, practice, assimilate, and implement the acquired knowledge. Through direct participation and involvement in the process, you immediately try and see the result, you do and you make mistakes. Live practice takes place with the support of experienced teachers, native speakers at the language school. An additional language opportunity is living with an English family, getting to know their daily life and mentality, which significantly increases cultural awareness, as the native speaker of the new language is a direct embodiment of their country's culture.

Communicating with representatives of different cultures makes you more diverse as a person because you begin to study another culture, another psychology, and take the best for yourself. Friendly locals, native English speakers, will be happy to communicate with you in their native English and will gladly want to learn a little Russian from you, thereby unconsciously implementing the "tandem" language learning method. It is fun, engaging, and educational. It inspires, broadens horizons, increases intelligence and versatility, and introduces you to the country, traditions, humor, and folklore.

Full immersion, studying the culture of the target language country and the mentality of its native speakers, real practice, and communication with different representatives of the English-speaking world not only allow for better mastery of the language being studied but also form a "sense and culture of the language," which is very important for practical application.

Moreover, our participants combine business with pleasure—they learn, acquire new skills, explore new directions, discover perspectives and horizons, and at the same time relax and rejuvenate during an intelligent journey.

Our thematic language programs, "Journey into the English-Speaking World," are presented in an interesting and stylish way. They include visits to such fairy-tale countries as Ireland and Scotland, Gothic Edinburgh, captivatingly ancient Wales, academically inspiring Oxford, invigorating London, the European hub of Silicon Valley—Dublin, festival and holiday-filled Galway, the exotic pearl of Africa—Uganda, majestic Great Britain and sunny, knightly Malta, modern and so diverse America, and distant, beautiful Australia.

The narratives of the educational tours are always filled with adventures, brimming with impressions and unique events, with an educational program that includes visits to the most significant places, meetings with local celebrities, natural wonders, and mysteries of civilizations.

With METHOD, Journey into English, it is very easy to combine STUDY with LEISURE and BUSINESS with PLEASURE. All that's left is to choose and book your program.
